This exciting Senior Planner / Urban Designer opportunity is located in Washington, DC, offering the chance to join an award-winning national design firm known for planning, placemaking, urban design, and architecture. This highly collaborative, design-focused studio creates mixed-use developments, town centers, neighborhoods, and walkable communities that strengthen how people live, work, and connect, while offering mentorship, career development, and exposure to diverse project types from concept through completion.
Qualifications and responsibilities for this Senior Planner / Urban Designer position include:
- 8–10+ years of relevant professional experience in master planning, project planning, urban design, and placemaking.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Architecture, Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, Planning, or a related discipline.
- Strong experience with mixed-use developments, town center planning, neighborhood planning, retail placemaking, and Traditional Neighborhood Design communities.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator, along with SketchUp, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite; Revit and ArcGIS are a plus.
- Lead and contribute to master planning and project planning efforts across neighborhood developments, large-scale mixed-use projects, and town center destinations.
- Develop urban design concepts and market-responsive planning solutions for mixed-use and community-oriented developments.
- Participate in and help lead multi-day design charrettes while translating ideas into clear visual and planning concepts.
- Prepare high-quality graphics, presentations, planning documents, and design documentation for clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams.
Salary: $90,000 - $125,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
