Step into a mission-driven municipal team in Wellington, FL and make a direct impact on public safety by helping ensure building projects meet code requirements from the plan stage. Licensed Plans Examiner/Senior Plans Examiner is a full-time, in-office opportunity where you’ll review commercial and residential structural plans and collaborate with the Building Department to keep projects moving efficiently.
Qualifications and responsibilities for this Licensed Plans Examiner/Senior Plans Examiner position include:
- DBPR Plans Examiner license is required; multi-licensing across structural and trades/MEP is preferred, with ability to obtain additional licensing considered.
- Ability to read, interpret, and work from construction plans and blueprints; construction industry experience is helpful.
- Review construction plans and specifications for both residential and commercial structures to ensure compliance with applicable building codes and regulatory standards.
- Provide technical assistance and customer service to the public and internal departments regarding code requirements, permitting functions, inspection requirements, and construction specifications.
- Interpret non-compliance issues and specify the action necessary to bring conditions to code compliance.
- Maintain current knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory standards and building code requirements affecting the construction industry.
- Must possess and maintain the State of Florida Driver License and be able to drive a Village-owned vehicle per established policies and safety guidelines.
- Strong communication skills for both written reports and verbal coordination with residents, coworkers, supervisors, administration, and vendors.
Salary: $29.47-$54.60/hour based on experience
