Description
A leading manufacturer of custom, precision-ground metals is seeking a Hammer Smith in PA! This is an exciting opportunity to join a clean, smoke-free, heated, and air-conditioned manufacturing facility supporting major packaging, food processing, paper converting, printing, recycling, and bag manufacturing industries with high-quality metals.
Qualifications and responsibilities for this Hammer Smith position include:
- Minimum 2 years of smithing experience with a completed or in-progress high school diploma/GED.
- Flatten and straighten blades after heat-treatment and grinding.
- Inspect flatness using dial indicators, surface table setup, feeler gauges, straight edges, and related tools.
- Understand hammer types and selection criteria for working with SS-440, 420 series, D2, M2, L3, carbon steels, and other materials.
- Identify and correct distortion or curvature such as center lift, edge twist, surface twist, edge bow, and surface bow.
- Follow safe handling practices and utilize proper PPE at all times.
- Laser etch blanks, fixtures, and other items as needed.
- Work safely in a manufacturing environment while assisting with safety projects and other duties as assigned.
Salary: $18 - $24 per hour, commensurate with experience.
