Description
A well-established surveying and engineering firm with 35 years in business is seeking a Travelling Survey Instrument Operator for opportunities based in Arizona with extensive out-of-town assignments nationwide. This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing field survey team that values accuracy, production, professionalism, and conventional construction staking expertise using robotics, total stations, and levels.
Qualifications and responsibilities for this Travelling Survey Instrument Operator position include:
- Proficiency operating robotics, total stations, levels, data collectors, and other survey equipment.
- Strong conventional construction staking experience, with GPS experience not required.
- Assist the Survey Crew Chief with daily field operations, staking support, tying flags, lath, nails, pounding hubs, and maintaining efficient production.
- Perform boundary, topographic, ALTA, right-of-way, construction, stakeout, and location surveys.
- Maintain survey equipment, keep the survey truck stocked and organized, and perform calibration and accuracy checks.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical coursework in mathematics or surveying preferred.
- Minimum 1–2 years of survey or construction-related experience preferred, with prior Instrument Operator experience preferred.
- Must be able to travel, work extreme overtime schedules reaching 70–80 hours per week, pass random drug testing, and maintain a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Salary: Not specified, commensurate with experience. Out-of-town work may include a conditional weekly crew incentive bonus, with 40% allocated to the Instrument Operator based on KPIs, production, performance, quality, professionalism, dependability, and overall crew success.
