Autonomous, solar-powered robotics is moving from concept to real-world impact, and the Greater Austin area is where that momentum is being built into a brand-new manufacturing operation. This Plant General Manager opportunity in Buda, TX gives you end-to-end ownership as you stand up an assembly plant, build the team, and ramp production for North American growth.
Qualifications and responsibilities for this Plant General Manager position include:
- 10+ years in manufacturing operations, including at least 5 years as Plant Manager, Site GM, or Operations Director.
- Lead the fit-out and commissioning of the Buda facility, including assembly lines, solar panel area, test and calibration stations, quality lab, warehouse, and offices.
- Obtain and maintain required permits, registrations, and approvals, including OSHA and EPA requirements.
- Take production from first units to steady-state volume with clear targets for output, yield, and unit cost, and bring the plant to profitability on schedule.
- Run day-to-day operations across solar panel production/configuration, robot assembly, firmware loading, sensor calibration, and end-of-line testing.
- Own production planning, scheduling, capacity management, and lean continuous improvement with plant KPIs (safety, quality, delivery, cost, inventory).
- Build a U.S. supplier base, maximize local sourcing, and manage outsourced fabrication suppliers for quality, lead time, and cost.
- Prepare and manage the site budget and operating plan; maintain financial and operational controls expected of a publicly listed company.
Salary: $150,000 - $200,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
