Description
Experience a high-volume, customer-facing estimating role with a long-tenured manufacturing team in Livermore, CA—where accuracy, speed, and craftsmanship directly impact real projects across lighting, Department of Energy, and medical applications. In this Senior Estimator - Metal Fabrication opportunity, you’ll lead the estimating function while staying hands-on with RFQs, pricing strategy, and customer communication.
Qualifications and responsibilities for this Senior Estimator - Metal Fabrication position include:
- 5-10 years of estimating experience in metal fabrication (sheet metal, machining, weldments, assemblies) or in a contract manufacturing environment
- Lead estimating efforts while staying hands-on with RFQs, customer communication, lead times, material quotes, outside processing, plating, painting, welding, runtime, laser time, and setup estimates
- Review customer drawings, specifications, and RFQs for sheet metal fabrication, machining, weldments, laser cutting, and finishing (painting/plating/silkscreen)
- Analyze part geometry, materials, tolerances, manufacturing processes (laser cutting, stamping, bending, welding, machining), and secondary operations to establish cost drivers and production flow
- Coordinate with engineering and production on machine setup, tooling needs, labor hours, scrap rates, and subcontracted operations (if any)
- Present and revise quotes as needed; track quote success rates and historical estimating data
- Support sales and business development by evaluating new products/projects for manufacturability, cost reduction, and quoting feasibility
- ERP/MRP and estimating software familiarity preferred (ERP/ELP quoting module experience preferred; Paperless Parts is a niche advantage if applicable)
Salary: $100K-$115K per year, commensurate with experience.
