Description
An exciting opportunity is available for a Heavy Civil / Excavation Estimator in Platte City, Missouri with a small, family-owned construction company known for its non-corporate culture, precision, accountability, and team-first approach. This is a great opportunity to join a growing excavation and site development contractor specializing in complex earthwork, grading, underground utilities, and heavy civil projects throughout the Kansas City metro area.
Qualifications and responsibilities for this Heavy Civil / Excavation Estimator position include:
- 3–5+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction, excavation, grading, earthmoving, or site development.
- Prepare competitive and accurate estimates for excavation, grading, site development, underground utilities, and earthwork projects.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs using Bluebeam or similar software.
- Build complete estimates in HCSS HeavyBid, including labor, equipment, trucking, materials, and subcontractor costs.
- Strong proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid, HeavyJob, Bluebeam, and preferred Procore experience.
- Collaborate with field teams and project managers to compare estimated versus actual production and costs.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, occasional site visits, bid strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking.
- Valid driver’s license required; no degree or certifications required.
Salary: $130,000 - $140,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
Benefits: This full-time, permanent, direct-hire position offers great benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 2 weeks of PTO, a 401(k) with a 50% match up to 3%, employer-paid 90% of employee-only healthcare premium, and a bonus structure currently being developed.
