In this Director Of Design For Manufacturing opportunity, you’ll help transition products from development and prototyping into scalable production, collaborating with design, engineering, supply chain, quality, and manufacturing partners across Lorton, VA and Franklin, MA.
Qualifications and responsibilities for this Director Of Design For Manufacturing position include:
- 10+ years of product development, manufacturing engineering, NPI, or production launch experience, including taking products from prototype to production
- Lead prototype-to-production transition to optimize cost, quality, reliability, and manufacturability
- Develop DFM/DFA strategies and establish manufacturing requirements, workflows, and readiness schedules
- Improve manufacturability and assembly efficiency, including pilot builds and production ramp-up
- Manage suppliers and contract manufacturers; support RFQ and supplier selection
- Execute NPI plans and drive quality/process documentation
- Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement; strengthen BOM, change control, and documentation practices
- Develop cost models and lead cross-functional project management for production readiness
Salary: $180K-$210K per year, commensurate with experience.
