Mechanical Design Engineer opportunity in Omaha, NE! Join a growing precision manufacturer that designs and builds high-quality custom equipment and replacement parts for the food processing industry, offering a 78,000-square-foot facility, strong team culture, and exciting growth through expansion and acquisition. This is a full-time, permanent, direct-hire, in-office day shift role where you can lead complex mechanical design projects, mentor others, and make a direct impact on innovative food-grade machinery and systems.
Qualifications and responsibilities for this Mechanical Design Engineer position include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in an equipment manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, including solid models, assemblies, and weldments.
- Lead the full design lifecycle of complex custom integrated systems and machinery from concept through manufacturing and testing.
- Perform engineering calculations including load, stress, speed, and torque analysis, along with reverse engineering of equipment and components.
- Generate BOMs, manufacturing drawings, technical manuals, exploded views, assembly instructions, and renderings.
- Collaborate with sales, manufacturing, leadership, machining, fabrication, and assembly teams to improve quality, reduce costs, and troubleshoot builds.
- Ensure designs meet food safety standards such as USDA, FDA, or 3-A while applying DFM principles and mentoring junior engineers.
Salary: $80,000 - $120,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
