Description

Step into a hands-on marine and industrial service environment in New Bedford where your work directly keeps commercial vessels and critical equipment running. In this Marine Shore Engineer/Marine Mechanic opportunity, you’ll tackle varied electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, installation, and repair with a stable local customer base.

Qualifications and responsibilities for this Marine Shore Engineer/Marine Mechanic position include:

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in marine or industrial maintenance/service, including electric motors, pumps, air compressors, hydraulics, and pneumatics
  • High- and low-voltage electrical work including 480, 208-240, 120, and 3 phase/1 phase systems, plus low-voltage systems (12-24-32)
  • Install, diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild equipment at customer sites and aboard vessels
  • Shipboard cable work including sizing, pulling, and terminating (including THHN, low smoke, shore power, and shielded cable)
  • Surveillance camera installation and related vessel equipment support
  • Threading, fabrication, install, and repair of steel and stainless-steel pipe
  • Work with pneumatic tubing, hoses, and fittings, as well as hydraulic tubing, hoses, and fittings
  • Respond to troubleshooting, installation, repair, and emergency-service needs while working independently and safely

Salary: $24 - $30 per hour, based on experience.

Benefits: After a 90-day introductory period, you’ll be eligible for United Health Care health insurance, vision and dental insurance, with the company paying 50% of insurance in years 1-5, 60% in years 6-10, and 70% in years 11+; you’ll also receive a 401K with up to a 3% match after 1 year, a work boot program (Chippewa boots valued at $300-$400), annual sweatshirts or coats, and a voluntary uniform program the company pays 50% for; PTO starts at 2 weeks after 1 year (accrued upon hire date and eligible after the introductory period), increases to 3 weeks after 5 years, and includes 7 paid holidays (and the day after Thanksgiving and Christmas when they fall on Thursday when workload allows); bi-annual bonuses based on fiscal year profits ($1,000-$25,000 depending on factors).
