Description
An exciting opportunity is available for a Directional Drill Locator in Lake Helen, FL, supporting underground utility projects across Central Florida, primarily from Jacksonville to Melbourne with heavy work in Orange, Brevard, and Seminole Counties. This well-established underground drilling contractor has built a strong reputation as a preferred HDD partner by combining advanced Vermeer directional drilling equipment, utility locating technology, hydro excavation capabilities, and a team-first culture focused on trust, communication, and long-term success.
Qualifications and responsibilities for this Directional Drill Locator position include:
- Prior utility construction or maintenance experience required, with HDD, underground utilities, water, sewer, reclaimed water, and power infrastructure experience preferred.
- Operate a DigiTrak Locator, including data log, pitch, depth, target steer, calibration, transmitter selection, and related locator functions.
- Assist crews with bore setup using prints, known existing utilities, elevations, and jobsite details.
- Support underground pipe installations ranging from 2-inch to 30-inch pipe for potable water, force mains, reclaimed water, sewer, and power infrastructure.
- Locate buried wiring, cabling, and utilities through hand digging, utility locating, and related methods.
- Valid Florida driver’s license required; CDL Class A, HDPE Fusion Certification, fusible PVC experience, and DataLogger software experience are pluses.
- Safely operate or assist with utility trucks, fusing machines, mini excavators, hand tools, and construction equipment.
- Must pass background check, drug screen, and clean driving record review, and be able to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs as needed.
Salary: $18 - $25 per hour, commensurate with experience.
