Description
Directional Drill Operator needed in Lake Helen, FL, supporting underground utility projects across Central Florida, primarily between Jacksonville and Melbourne with heavy work in Orange, Brevard, and Seminole Counties! This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing underground utility contractor with a strong reputation as a preferred HDD partner, modern Vermeer equipment, and a clear path for career growth from operator roles into leadership.
Qualifications and responsibilities for this Directional Drill Operator position include:
- Prior HDD, underground utility, telecommunications, utility construction, or maintenance experience required.
- Operate horizontal directional drill equipment, primarily Vermeer, for underground pipe installation.
- Valid CDL required; CDL Class A preferred, with a clean driving record, background check, and drug screen required.
- Assist with 2-inch to 30-inch pipe installations for potable water, force mains, reclaimed water, sewer, and power infrastructure.
- Operate and support equipment such as fusing machines, mini excavators, utility trucks, and related construction equipment.
- Read prints and interpret utility maps to identify underground utility type and size.
- Perform hand digging, utility locating, flagging, site restoration, and general construction labor.
- HDPE Fusion Certification, fusible PVC experience, and DataLogger software experience are a plus.
Salary: $18 - $26 per hour, commensurate with experience.
