Description
Bring your construction accounting expertise to a fast-paced, mission-driven organization in West Caldwell, New Jersey, where accuracy, cash visibility, and job profitability directly shape day-to-day decisions. In this Controller opportunity, you’ll lead month-end close, WIP reporting, job costing, billing, purchasing controls, and internal controls across New Construction and Service divisions.
Qualifications and responsibilities for this Controller position include:
- 10+ years of construction accounting and finance experience, including 3-5 years in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior construction accounting leadership role.
- Strong expertise in WIP reporting, job costing, revenue recognition, cost-to-complete forecasting, AIA billing, retainage, and change order management.
- Strong understanding of AR, AP, purchasing controls, payroll, inventory accounting, cash flow management, and financial reporting.
- Advanced Excel and financial reporting skills, with the ability to partner closely with executive leadership and provide meaningful financial insight.
- Lead and develop the accounting team, establish deadlines and measurable performance standards, and drive process improvement.
- Own the monthly close, ensuring financial statements are delivered no later than the 10th business day of the following month.
- Oversee AIA and service billing, monitor unbilled revenue and retainage, and manage weekly AR aging and collection priorities.
- Maintain three-way matching, enforce inventory controls, and ensure reconciliations and documentation are complete before month-end close.
Salary: $150,000 - $185,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
