Description
Bring your structural engineering expertise to Chicago and help shape high-visibility rooftop and outdoor living projects through hands-on field work, technical leadership, and client-facing problem solving. In this Senior Structural Engineer opportunity, you’ll assess and rehabilitate existing buildings and infrastructure while also supporting select new-design efforts in a role that’s anything but desk-only.
Qualifications and responsibilities for this Senior Structural Engineer position include:
- 10+ years of structural engineering experience, including 5+ years dedicated to existing-condition assessments, forensics, rehabilitation, or retrofits.
- Active Illinois PE/SE license required; ready to perform and seal work immediately.
- Strong high-density commercial building experience; this is not a desk job; Client facing field work is a large part of this role
- Lead structural condition assessments of existing buildings and infrastructure, including visual inspections, non-destructive testing, and documentation of as-built conditions.
- Perform detailed structural analysis and load evaluations to determine capacity, identify deficiencies, and recommend repairs, reinforcements, or retrofits.
- Develop existing conditions reports, feasibility studies, and rehabilitation designs in compliance with current building codes (e.g., IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, etc.).
- Conduct forensic investigations of structural distress, failures, or damage caused by age, environmental factors, seismic/wind events, or construction issues.
- Prepare construction documents, calculations, drawings, and specifications for structural repairs, additions, modifications, and adaptive reuse projects; review and seal structural drawings and calculations as the Engineer of Record.
Salary: $135,000 - $175,000+ per year, commensurate with experience with opportunities for additional profitability-based incentives.
