In this MEP Pipe Detailer / VDC Piping Designer opportunity in Fredericksburg, VA, you’ll create fully coordinated LOD 400 3D models and installation drawings that help eliminate layout errors and maximize prefabrication opportunities across commercial and industrial projects.
Qualifications and responsibilities for this MEP Pipe Detailer / VDC Piping Designer position include:
- 3–5+ years of experience detailing commercial, industrial, or institutional piping systems
- Strong Autodesk Revit MEP and Navisworks Manage experience required; SysQue, Fabrication CADmep, Bluebeam, or Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM 360 preferred
- Develop precise 3D models and routing for mechanical, plumbing, and process piping systems (including hydronic heating/cooling, domestic water, sanitary, gas, and process piping)
- Participate in trade coordination and run multi-discipline clash detection to resolve routing conflicts before field installation
- Generate spool/isometric drawing packages, penetration/sleeve layouts, and underground plans directly from coordinated 3D models
- Create accurate bill of materials (BOM) for pipes, valves, fixtures, hanger assemblies, and specialty items
- Ensure code and spec compliance (SMACNA, IPC, and local building codes) by reviewing design drawings, architectural prints, submittals, and RFIs
- Track field adjustments, change orders, and submittal updates to issue clean final as-built drawing sets
Salary: $82,000–$123,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
