Step into an exciting opportunity in Akron, NY, where engineering design meets hands-on manufacturing! We are seeking an Engineering Technician with strong CAD skills and SolidWorks experience to support engineering design, equipment development, and specialized manufacturing operations. In this role, you’ll create and modify 3D models, develop technical drawings, assist with engineering projects, and work directly with production equipment, furnace systems, and high-temperature manufacturing processes. This position offers the opportunity to combine technical design expertise with practical mechanical problem-solving while developing advanced skills in specialized manufacturing operations.
Qualifications and responsibilities for this Engineering Technician position include:
- 3–12 years of relevant experience in mechanical, manufacturing, engineering design, equipment development, or a similar technical environment
- Proficiency in CAD software, with SolidWorks experience strongly preferred
- Create, modify, and update engineering drawings, 3D CAD models, and technical documentation using SolidWorks and other CAD tools
- Support engineering design projects, equipment development, drawing revisions, project coordination, and implementation activities
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, dimensions, tolerances, and technical specifications
- Hands-on mechanical experience with equipment assembly, fabrication, modification, testing, repair, and troubleshooting
- Working knowledge of metal fabrication processes, including cutting, grinding, forming, and welding
- Strong mechanical aptitude, spatial visualization skills, and the ability to understand complex mechanical assemblies
- Proficiency with precision measurement tools, including calipers, micrometers, radius gauges, and tape measures
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to improve equipment performance, production efficiency, and manufacturing processes
- Assist with the design, assembly, and testing of specialized production equipment, prototypes, and furnace systems
- Willingness to learn and eventually set up and operate specialized manufacturing equipment, including induction bending systems
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field preferred
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in an industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, heat, and industrial chemicals
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM. Off-shift training may be required approximately three months into employment, with training hours of 11:00 AM–7:30 PM. Training schedules may be negotiated based on employee development and operational needs.
Salary: $30–$40/hour
Benefits: Eligibility to contribute to the 401(k) begins on the first of the month following hire (participation is optional, and there is no traditional 401(k) match). The company also offers a profit-sharing Non-Elective Contribution (NEC) plan with eligibility after 12 months of employment and at least 1,000 hours. Contributions vest over 1–5 years.
