Step into field-based work that directly supports quality and compliance across Tampa Bay’s most important construction and infrastructure projects. In this Engineering Technician (Materials Testing) opportunity, you’ll bring proven CMT expertise to active jobsites, coordinating with contractors, clients, and engineering teams to deliver clear, accurate results.
Qualifications and responsibilities for this Engineering Technician (Materials Testing) position include:
- 5+ years of construction materials testing/field testing experience (less experience considered with strong current certifications).
- Active ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I certification (Grade II preferred).
- Hands-on experience performing field testing of concrete, soils, and/or asphalt on active jobsites.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision while performing assigned testing and documentation.
- Professional communication skills with contractors, clients, inspectors, and engineers, including clear reporting of results and field observations.
- Ability to travel locally across Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas, and occasionally Sarasota counties, with occasional out-of-town training/certifications.
- Conduct sampling, testing, inspection, and quality control in accordance with applicable project specifications, ASTM standards, and FDOT requirements.
- Prepare accurate daily reports and maintain equipment calibration, operational readiness, and jobsite safety awareness.
Salary: $24–$30 per hour
