Description
Step into a high-impact preconstruction environment in the Akron/Fairlawn area, where your estimating expertise directly shapes major commercial and industrial projects. This Senior Estimator opportunity is a key leadership track, serving as the second-in-command to the Director of Preconstruction while staying hands-on with full-cycle estimating.
Qualifications and responsibilities for this Senior Estimator position include:
- 8+ years of construction experience, including 5+ years of estimating experience.
- Estimate large commercial construction projects (ideally $50M+; $25M+ is also strongly considered).
- Lead full-cycle estimating: review drawings/specs, perform quantity takeoffs, develop detailed cost estimates, and prepare competitive bids and negotiated proposals.
- Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier pricing; manage scopes across multiple trades including MEP systems.
- Conduct value engineering and constructability reviews, supporting scheduling and cost optimization.
- Assess bid risks and profitability factors including bid bonds, fees, and contract considerations.
- Present estimates and proposals to clients and collaborate with operations teams.
- Mentor, train, and lead estimators while developing subcontractor/vendor relationships and supporting long-term growth into preconstruction leadership.
Salary: $130,000 - $140,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
Benefits: Blue Cross Blue Shield medical coverage, a 401(k) with company contribution, and vacation/PTO based on experience (example: three weeks of vacation plus six PTO days for someone with 10 years of experience). A discretionary bonus is typically $5K–$10K.
