An established residential surveying company supporting disaster recovery and rebuilding projects across multiple states is hiring Survey Party Chiefs in Boone, NC! Qualifications and responsibilities for this Survey Party Chief position include:
- Minimum 3–4 years of hands-on land surveying experience, with a strong background in residential surveying and homebuilding projects
- Proven ability to independently manage field assignments, lead survey crews, and supervise an instrument technician when working on a two-person crew
- Proficiency with GPS surveying equipment and total stations; experience with Carlson software is a plus but not required
- Perform residential boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and construction staking for residential construction and rebuilding projects
- Collect accurate field measurements, document survey data, and ensure quality and efficiency throughout field operations
- Coordinate daily assignments with field leadership while meeting homebuilder schedules and project deadlines
- Maintain company-provided surveying equipment and vehicle; valid driver's license and clean driving record required
- Ability to work substantial overtime, including two Saturdays per month, and occasionally travel to other service areas
Salary: $25–$35 per hour, commensurate with experience. Significant overtime opportunities are available, with North Carolina crews currently averaging approximately 10–15 overtime hours per week. The company also offers a 40-hour workweek guarantee if workloads slow down.
Benefits: This full-time, permanent, direct-hire position offers great benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance with historically affordable individual coverage, insurance eligibility beginning the first of the month following 30 days of employment, a 401(k) retirement plan with a previously stated 4% company match after six months, approximately five prorated PTO days annually with potential flexibility, seven paid holidays, a company-provided vehicle and surveying equipment, home dispatch, and per diem for occasional travel assignments.
