Join a precision manufacturing leader with over 130 years of industry experience as a Precision Grinding Specialist in Elmira, NY! This established, family-oriented company is expanding its operations and seeking two skilled grinding professionals to produce high-precision workholding components for the aerospace, defense, automotive, and medical industries. Qualifications and responsibilities for this Precision Grinding Specialist position include:
- Minimum of 5 years of precision grinding experience; high school diploma or GED required, with vocational or technical machining certification preferred.
- Siemens controls experience required, along with proficiency in vertical, surface, ID, and cylindrical grinding operations.
- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot DMG Mori vertical grinders, Springfield vertical grinders, surface grinders, and ID grinders to produce high-precision components.
- Read and interpret complex blueprints, specifications, and GD&T requirements while consistently maintaining tight tolerances of ±0.0002".
- Utilize precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, dial indicators, and bore gauges, to perform first-piece and in-process inspections.
- Troubleshoot machining challenges, collaborate with engineering and quality teams, document production activities, and mentor junior operators as needed.
- Work independently in a combination production and job shop environment while maintaining OSHA safety standards and safely lifting materials up to 30 lbs.
- Work first shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with required overtime averaging approximately 50 hours per week and flexibility to work extended hours or occasional Saturdays.
Salary: $32 - $38 per hour, commensurate with experience.
