This Head of Power Plant Operations opportunity combines day-to-day operating-floor accountability for a natural-gas-fired steam unit with oversight of the natural gas supply pipeline.
Qualifications and responsibilities for this Head of Power Plant Operations and Pipeline position include:
- Minimum 8 years of experience in power plant operations, with direct experience at a Rankine-cycle (steam) generating facility.
- Lead and manage an operations team (O&M Technicians), including scheduling, staffing, training, qualification, and performance.
- Direct real-time operation of the natural gas-fired steam unit (boiler, steam turbine, generator, condenser, feedwater, and auxiliary systems).
- Oversee day-to-day operation of the natural gas supply pipeline serving the facility, including monitoring, integrity, and regulatory compliance.
- Own operating discipline by developing, maintaining, and enforcing SOPs, startup/shutdown sequences, and abnormal/emergency procedures.
- Execute operations safety programs on the floor, including LOTO, permit-to-work, and emergency response support.
- Monitor operational performance, conduct root-cause analysis on events, and drive corrective actions.
- Coordinate with maintenance on work windows, outages, unit loading, and returns to service.
Salary: $150,000 - $170,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
