Description
Bring your hands-on engineering leadership to a purpose-driven mobility and accessibility manufacturer in Sarasota, FL, where product impact and a family-feel culture go hand in hand. In this Director of Engineering opportunity, you’ll help consolidate engineering functions into a high-accountability environment and lead new product development and daily execution that directly improves mobility and quality of life for veterans, aging individuals, and people with disabilities.
Qualifications and responsibilities for this Director of Engineering position include:
- Minimum 15 years of engineering experience, with 7 years of team leadership ideal, including strong hands-on new product development and successful major product launches.
- Own substantial, day-to-day engineering operations with disciplined execution (portfolio prioritization, project controls, schedules, resources, metrics, risk management, design reviews, documentation, and issue resolution).
- Lead multiple NPD programs from concept through commercial launch, establishing scope, stage-gate expectations, budgets, resources, technical requirements, product cost targets, and quality objectives.
- Maintain technical rigor across designs, specifications, calculations, drawings, bills of material, test plans, design reviews, and change control.
- Drive design for manufacturability, reliability, serviceability, cost, and compliance by partnering closely with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Service, and Product Management.
- Balance NPD with sustaining engineering, including lifecycle support, quality improvements, cost reduction, value engineering, and timely resolution of production and field issues.
- Build and lead a high-performing team across Sarasota, Missouri, and Ireland during consolidation by coaching, developing talent, and creating a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
- Work in Sarasota, FL as engineering functions are being consolidated there; provide clear, fact-based updates to executive and cross-functional stakeholders.
Salary: $150,000 - $175,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
