A major Texas-based retail and commercial development firm is hiring an Architectural Designer (Retail) in Houston, TX! This is an exciting opportunity to join a large, growing in-house architecture team with excellent culture, long employee tenures, monthly food trucks, employee appreciation events, and a clear advancement path toward Senior Designer while working on retail centers, commercial strip malls, town centers, and mixed-use projects.
Qualifications and responsibilities for this Architectural Designer (Retail) position include:
- 8+ years of architectural production experience with project ownership in retail, commercial, or mixed-use development.
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Architectural Technology required; licensure is a plus.
- AutoCAD proficiency required; Adobe experience is highly preferred.
- Lead architectural production for assigned retail projects from concept through permit issuance.
- Develop site plans, elevations, lease exhibits, property exhibits, and permitting-ready drawing sets.
- Coordinate with consultants, tenants, internal teams, and jurisdictional reviewers to resolve comments and conflicts.
- Review and enforce drawing standards, QA/QC procedures, and documentation consistency across projects.
- Mentor Designer I and II staff, support onboarding, and contribute to team development.
Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
