Description
A growing precision machining company is seeking a Setup Operator in Painesville, OH! This is an exciting opportunity to join a non-union manufacturing team producing small precision parts with CNC mills, CNC lathes, Acme Gridley machines, Hydromat equipment, and Mazak machines. With strong demand, retiring skilled tradespeople, and multiple openings, this is a great opportunity for a skilled setup professional ready to step into a stable shop with room to grow.
Qualifications and responsibilities for this Setup Operator position include:
- 2–3+ years of experience setting up and operating CNC mills, CNC lathes, Acme Gridley machines, Hydromat machines, Mazak machines, or multi-spindle equipment.
- Set up CNC mills, CNC lathes, and multi-spindle machines by installing and adjusting chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers.
- Understand and work from CNC programs, including zero and reference points, tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches.
- Use basic math, geometry, and trigonometry to calculate machining requirements and prove part programs.
- Load feed mechanisms, position stock, verify settings, and measure sample workpieces to maintain accuracy.
- Monitor drilling, grooving, cutting, turning, facing, knurling, and thread chasing operations while troubleshooting issues and adjusting controls as needed.
- Maintain equipment through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, and correcting minor mechanical issues.
- Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and shift needs while supporting production goals and quality assurance procedures.
Salary: $32 - $33 per hour, commensurate with experience.
Benefits: This full-time, permanent, direct-hire position offers great benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance after a probationary period, 401(k) after one year with matching up to 2%, 6 paid holidays, and vacation consisting of 40 hours after 6 months, 80 hours after 1 year, 120 hours after 3 years, and 160 hours after 5 years.
