Build your expertise helping keep advanced pipeline inspection electronics safe in the field—right from the heart of the engineering process in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In this Senior System Safety Engineer opportunity, you’ll serve as an internal product-safety authority for a new inspection tool that includes electrical components, stored energy, and lithium batteries in hazardous pipeline environments.
Qualifications and responsibilities for this Senior System Safety Engineer position include:
• 8+ years of related experience (5+ years may be considered for exceptionally strong candidates).
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering field.
• Strong electrical design background, including DC power distribution, batteries/stored energy, fault currents, fusing/protection circuits, thermal effects/overheating, and electrical spacing/connector selection.
• Product or system safety experience with safety-critical engineered products, including functional safety and/or compliance/certification engineering.
• Formal hazard-analysis experience using methods such as FMEA/FMECA, Fault Tree Analysis, hazard analysis, and risk assessments.
• Knowledge of hazardous-location or ignition-risk evaluation for explosive atmospheres and equipment where sparks, shorts, hot surfaces, or battery failures could ignite.
• Responsibilities include establishing a formal product-safety evaluation process and developing documented safety rationales for pipeline inspection tools.
• Review electrical/mechanical/control designs and safety documentation, recommend design changes and verification plans, and communicate unresolved risks, assumptions, mitigation options, and residual risk to management.
Salary: $150,000 - $175,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
