Qualifications and responsibilities for this Roadway Lead Engineer (PE) position include:
- PE License in Illinois (Required) – Lead roadway design efforts and take responsible charge of plans and deliverables
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering – Apply strong engineering fundamentals to transportation design projects
- 7+ years of progressive roadway/highway design experience – Manage projects from planning and studies through final design and construction support
- Extensive IDOT and Illinois Tollway experience – Ensure compliance with agency manuals, standards, and specifications
- Proficiency in MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer – Develop horizontal and vertical alignments, profiles, cross sections, and detailed geometric layouts
- Experience preparing full plan sets, specifications, and cost estimates – Deliver complete, bid-ready construction documents
- Strong coordination and communication skills – Collaborate with structural, geotechnical, drainage, and traffic disciplines while working directly with clients and stakeholders
- Leadership and mentoring ability – Guide junior engineers and help grow a high-performing roadway team
Salary: $125,000 - $175,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
