Description
Bring your mechanical and electrical expertise to a long-standing, mission-driven operation serving commercial laundry across multiple locations. This Commercial Mechanic opportunity is based in Far Rockaway, NY, with hands-on work maintaining and repairing industrial laundry systems and equipment.
Qualifications and responsibilities for this Commercial Mechanic position include:
- 2+ years’ experience as a mechanic (laundry experience is a great fit; strong mechanical and electrical experience is also considered).
- Troubleshoot electrical, electronic, and pneumatic controls; rebuild pumps, valves, and regulators; and understand steam and/or thermal oil systems.
- Experience sweating and soldering joints, including solder repairs on leaking plumbing lines.
- Repair, modify, and rebuild laundry equipment such as washers and dryers, towel/blanket folders, ironers, and heat sealers (Milnor, Chicago Sheet Folder/Ironer, Chicago and Jensen Towel/Blanket Folders, Super Sylon Ironer, Heat Sealers, etc.).
- Read and interpret electrical schematic diagrams and use testing equipment for troubleshooting up to the board level; strong understanding of electrical circuitry.
- Maintain preventive maintenance (PM) records and inspections, tag defective equipment for non-use when necessary, and keep tools, equipment, and the work area clean, safe, and orderly.
- Maintain parts inventory for facility equipment and perform weekly blow-downs to eliminate lint buildup in equipment and duct work.
- Coordinate outside contractors as needed; work effectively as part of a team or independently, with professionalism and confidentiality.
Salary: $18-$22/hr.
