In this R&D CNC Programmer / Set-up Machinist opportunity, you’ll work hands-on with advanced CNC machining to turn engineering drawings into finished firearm components and accessories.
Qualifications and responsibilities for this R&D CNC Programmer / Set-up Machinist position include:
- 5+ years of hands-on CNC machining experience (flexible for strong candidates).
- Independently create or substantially develop CNC programs using CAD/CAM software, with Fusion 360 highly preferred.
- Take a new part from engineering drawing/design through programming, machine setup, prove-out, and successful first run.
- Independently set up CNC machining centers, including selecting tooling, establishing offsets, and proving out programs.
- Experience machining on 3-axis CNC mills, with additional exposure to 4-axis and/or 5-axis machining a strong plus.
- Develop and refine tooling, fixturing, and workholding solutions to support R&D and production runs.
- Read engineering drawings and inspect precision-machined components to ensure dimensional accuracy; assist with CMM inspection and quality needs with training.
- Troubleshoot machining problems independently, optimize feeds/speeds/toolpaths/cycle times, and work comfortably in a small shop where you wear multiple hats.
Salary: $35–$50 per hour ($72,800–$104,000 annually), commensurate with experience.
