Bring your controls expertise to a hands-on, customer-facing role in East Providence where custom equipment projects move from specification to start-up. This Sr. Electrical Controls Engineer opportunity combines practical PLC/HMI work, electrical design ownership, and real-world commissioning and troubleshooting in the machine automation industry.
Qualifications and responsibilities for this Sr. Electrical Controls Engineer position include:
- 7+ years of experience designing and programming machine and motion control systems, with full-cycle ownership from concept through field commissioning and customer start-up.
- Own the electrical/control scope from estimating, scheduling, component/vendor selection, electrical design, programming, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and documentation.
- Develop, document, and maintain electrical schematics, panel layouts, bills of material, and I/O lists.
- Write, test, and commission PLC, HMI, VFD, and motion control programs.
- Ensure designs adhere to UL 508A (UL 508A panel shop), NEC, and NFPA 79 requirements.
- Serve as the senior technical resource for troubleshooting and root-cause analysis in-house and in the field.
- Provide technical direction and review work for accuracy and standards compliance, mentoring junior engineers and designers.
- Travel for start-up, commissioning, customer training, and troubleshooting (day trips 1–2x/month; overnight trips about 2x/quarter; weekend travel extremely rare).
Salary: $115K-$130K per year base depending on experience; typically year-end bonus; profit sharing through 401(k).
