Description
Join a respected heavy civil construction firm as a Cost Engineer in Staten Island, NY, where you will play a vital role in a major federally regulated stormwater resiliency project that helps protect communities from flooding and severe storm damage. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a high-visibility U.S. Army Corps of Engineers infrastructure initiative involving drainage ponds, detention basins, culverts, stormwater systems, and sanitary sewer relocations—ideal for someone who wants to make a real impact on large-scale civil works projects.
Qualifications and responsibilities for this Cost Engineer position include:
- 3–5+ years of Cost Engineering experience in heavy civil construction involving earthwork, excavation, drainage, stormwater systems, utility relocations, and major site/civil infrastructure projects
- Prior USACE project experience with an understanding of federal project controls, documentation, and reporting requirements
- Strong knowledge of cost forecasting, earned value, productivity tracking, and unit price civil work
- Experience preparing and supporting change orders, REAs, modifications, claims, and subcontractor cost evaluations
- Proficiency in cost control software, advanced Microsoft Excel, and project management tools
- Track project costs including labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, quantities, production rates, and budget allocations
- Prepare detailed cost reports, cash flow projections, cost-to-complete assessments, variance reports, and cost trend analyses
- Coordinate with the Project Manager, field teams, Quality Control, superintendents, subcontractors, and USACE representatives to maintain cost accuracy, compliance, and schedule alignment
Salary: $95,000 - $110,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
Benefits: This full-time, permanent, direct-hire position offers great benefits including 10 days of PTO upon starting in alignment with NYC law, increasing to 15 days annually, a 401(k) available after 90 days with a 100% company match up to 3%, eligibility after one full year for a cash balance/profit-sharing plan, medical coverage through Cigna with two plan options, and dental and vision coverage through United Healthcare available after 60 days of employment.
