Description
A rapidly expanding mechanical service company is seeking a Refrigeration Technician in New York, NY to support a growing network of commercial retail locations. With approval to service more than 140 additional stores, this team is scaling quickly and offers technicians the opportunity to work on a wide range of commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems while building a long-term career with strong union opportunities and excellent field support.
Qualifications and responsibilities for this Refrigeration Technician position include:
- 10+ years of commercial refrigeration or HVAC service experience preferred – Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems
- Strong troubleshooting skills with refrigeration systems and electrical controls – Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration-related issues in the field
- Experience with walk-in coolers, freezers, and ice machines – Service and maintain commercial refrigeration equipment across multiple locations
- Ability to work independently in a field service environment – Perform preventative maintenance and respond to service calls at assigned sites
- Strong customer communication and professionalism – Interact with clients to explain system performance and repair recommendations
- Leadership and mentorship mindset – Support and mentor junior technicians as the service team grows
- Strong organizational and documentation skills – Complete service documentation and maintain accurate records
- Availability for rotating on-call or after-hours service – Participate in a 24/7 service environment with overtime opportunities
Salary: $35 - $60 per hour, commensurate with experience.
Benefits: This full-time, permanent, direct-hire position offers great benefits including a company take-home truck, overtime pay opportunities, and the opportunity to join the Steamfitters Union within the first year with approximately $500 initiation and around $30 monthly dues.
