Description

Are you a Licensed Land Surveyor ready to play a pivotal role in a transformative large-scale development project in Tucker County, West Virginia? This position begins as a contract role and transitions to full-time W2 employment after 90 days. This is a rare opportunity to help shape major infrastructure from the ground up—including complex boundary, topographic, and construction surveying for a high-profile ridgeline project. Offering both immediate impact and long-term career stability in a dynamic project environment.

Qualifications and responsibilities for this Licensed Land Surveyor position include:

  • Current Professional Land Surveyor License in West Virginia (RPLS/PLS) or ability to obtain licensure by reciprocity; plan and conduct boundary, topographic, control, and construction staking surveys.

  • 5+ years of professional land surveying experience including boundary and construction project work; provide precise data to support civil design, permitting, and construction sequencing.

  • Proficiency with drones, GPS, and total stations; perform advanced field data collection including aerial survey and LiDAR operations.

  • Strong experience with CAD/GIS and survey data processing tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Trimble Business Center; process field data and prepare plats, maps, and legal descriptions.

  • Thorough understanding of legal descriptions, boundary law, and regulatory requirements; ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal standards.

  • Experience collaborating with engineering and construction teams; integrate survey deliverables into overall project plans and timelines.

  • Leadership ability overseeing field crews or mentoring junior staff; coordinate schedules, equipment maintenance, and quality control procedures.

  • Ability to work outdoors in varied terrain and weather conditions with a valid driver’s license; travel to project sites and maintain accurate documentation of survey activities.

Salary: $125,000 - $150,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
