This Head of Engineering position based in Woburn, MA (Hybrid / HQ with project-based travel) offers the opportunity to lead a multidisciplinary engineering team designing cutting-edge systems that improve safety, connectivity, and operational performance for major public transportation systems. Qualifications and responsibilities for this Head of Engineering position include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field (Master’s preferred) – Lead engineering strategy and technical direction for multidisciplinary system integration projects.
- Experience in transit, transportation, or critical infrastructure environments – Oversee design and deployment of technology solutions across vehicle and infrastructure systems.
- Proven experience designing complex multi-system integrations – Guide architecture and integration of CCTV, passenger information systems, networking, RF communications, and vehicle monitoring platforms.
- Experience leading cross-functional engineering teams – Manage and mentor a team of approximately 10 engineers while establishing priorities and supporting professional development.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise IP networking and communications systems – Support the integration of onboard and infrastructure networking, security, and communication technologies.
- Experience working within ISO-9001 or similar quality management environments – Ensure compliance with design control processes including verification, validation, documentation, and audits.
- Experience with bill of material management and configuration control – Maintain traceability between system requirements, design documentation, and validation activities.
- Ability to collaborate across engineering, production, quality, and project management teams – Support project execution, resource planning, and customer-facing technical leadership.
Salary: $150,000 - $200,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
