This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing, well-funded medical device startup as a Hardware/Firmware Engineer in Austin, TX (in-office). This innovative company is developing a breakthrough non-invasive therapy for atrial fibrillation (AFib), with the goal of preventing serious cardiac events like strokes and heart attacks using a wearable device that monitors and delivers low-powered electrical pulses to correct irregular heart rhythms. With strong financial backing from a strategic investor and recent successful fundraising, they’re scaling fast and heading into clinical trials with their second-generation device — and you’ll be at the heart of this transformative journey!
Qualifications and responsibilities for this a Hardware/Firmware Engineer position include:
- Proficiency in Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout
- Strong experience in embedded programming (C/C++ or similar) and microcontroller development
- Design and build automated test systems for the Gen-2 device to support manufacturing, validation, and FDA approval
- Lead and contribute to hardware design of embedded medical-grade systems
- Drive product development from concept and prototyping through to production and deployment
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, clinical, and regulatory
- Ensure designs meet regulatory standards (IEC, ISO, FDA/CE) and support clinical compliance
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in embedded hardware design, preferably in medical devices
Salary: $140,000 - $190,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
