We are seeking a Contract Design Engineer to join a collaborative team onsite in Overland Park, KS. Work directly with industry leaders on cutting-edge experiential and architectural installations. This is a 1099 contract role ideal for professionals who are highly skilled in SolidWorks and fabrication-focused design, and who thrive in fast-paced, highly creative environments.
Qualifications and responsibilities for this Design Engineer position include:
- 3–5 years of experience in design engineering, preferably in construction or fabrication
- Expertise in SolidWorks, including top-down and in-context modeling, with minimal redlining required
- Strong understanding of fabrication technologies (metal, plastics, plywood/MDF, etc.)
- Ability to read architectural drawings and convert them into production-ready documents
- Collaborate closely with internal teams including Designers, PMs, Engineers, and Fabricators
- Lead small to mid-size project elements and coordinate standards (materials, parts, colors)
- No travel required; onsite presence in Overland Park, KS is essential due to high team collaboration
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Themed Entertainment Design, or Mechanical Engineering
Salary: $33.50 - $37.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
