This is an exciting opportunity to join one of Ohio’s most dynamic municipalities as a Chief Building Official. This leadership role offers a rare chance to step into the highest-level position within the Building Inspection and Code Enforcement Department, managing a team and shaping the city’s residential and commercial development.
Qualifications and responsibilities for this Chief Building Official position include:
- Must possess ICC Certification recognized by the Ohio Board of Building Standards as a Chief Building Official
- 10 years of experience in construction/inspection or 5 years as an Ohio-registered architect or professional engineer in related fields
- Valid Ohio driver's license
- Manage and supervise staff across Building Inspection, Code Enforcement, and Zoning
- Enforce compliance with all applicable state and local building, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and energy conservation codes
- Develop departmental policies, procedures, and oversee safety and training initiatives
- Handle sensitive and confidential documentation including inspection records and personnel files
Salary: $90,000 - $111,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
Benefits: This full-time, permanent, direct-hire position offers great benefits including two medical plan options (HDHP with HSA or PPO with HRA), dental (with buy-up options), vision, prescription coverage, and a $50,000 life insurance policy for the employee. Employees also participate in the Employees Retirement System.
