This Application Engineer (Deployments & Technical Success) role is based in Metro Detroit with work in Livonia and at customer manufacturing sites, offering the opportunity to work directly with innovative inspection technology deployed across real-world production lines. Qualifications and responsibilities for this Application Engineer (Deployments & Technical Success) position include:
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, applications engineering, metrology/inspection, industrial automation, or machine vision – Support pre-sales feasibility assessments, technical discovery, and definition of inspection requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Strong CAD literacy and ability to interpret datums, features, and revisions – Process CAD files, manage revision control, and prepare inspection configurations and operations files.
- Experience preparing technical configurations from engineering data – Create and maintain operations files based on weld files and feature maps while ensuring traceability to requirements.
- Hands-on comfort working in customer production environments – Execute on-site deployments including system setup, calibration, validation runs, and acceptance testing.
- Strong troubleshooting and structured problem-solving skills – Diagnose and resolve issues related to optics, lighting, fixturing, software configuration, and plant IT constraints.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams – Coordinate with development teams for escalations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Experience supporting deployment planning and technical deliverables – Contribute to project planning, track technical milestones, and communicate status and risks to stakeholders.
- Familiarity with manufacturing inspection systems, machine vision, robotics integration, or BIW/welding processes preferred – Assist with hardware specification, integrator coordination, and continuous improvement of deployment processes.
Salary: $65,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
