What You’ll Do
As the first Product Engineer hire, you’ll have a significant impact on product design and development while gaining a lot of exposure within the company:
Qualifications and responsibilities for this Product Engineer position include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, Materials Science, or related field is preferred but not required — demonstrated ability in engineering fundamentals and hands‑on problem solving is most important
- 1–5 years of engineering experience in manufacturing, product development, shop environments, or related technical roles
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar – create, maintain, and deliver accurate 2D and 3D product drawings for customers, distributors, and mills
- Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working in a shop environment alongside technicians and fabricators
- Passion for product quality and testing – lead initiatives to improve new and existing welding and steel-making products
- Creative product development mindset – generate and present new ideas, redesign products, and help the company stay ahead of competitors
- Strong communication skills – collaborate with sales, customers, and shop personnel while documenting designs, revisions, and test data
- Willingness to travel occasionally – support customer visits, sales events, oxygen training courses, and plant safety recommendations
Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
Benefits: This full-time, permanent, direct-hire position offers great benefits including medical insurance with subsidized primary and secondary coverage, dental and vision insurance, a burial policy paid by the company, a 401(k) with employer match up to 3% and 50% match on 4% and 5%, performance-based bonuses twice per year.
