This opportunity is with a well-established facilities management organization that specializes in operating and maintaining large, complex government buildings, offering long-term stability, union benefits, and hands-on technical leadership. They are seeking a Chief Engineer (Facilities Operations and Maintenance) in Austin, who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment and enjoys leading by example while staying technically engaged in the work.
Qualifications and responsibilities for this Chief Engineer (Facilities Operations and Maintenance) position include:
- EPA Universal Certification and A/C Refrigeration Operator Certificate with hands-on HVAC experience
- Supervising and leading a team of engineers and general labor staff while completing hands-on work orders as needed
- Operating, maintaining, and repairing HVAC, boilers, chillers, pumps, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
- Overseeing preventative and corrective maintenance for facilities totaling 300,000+ square feet
- Monitoring and troubleshooting BAS and automation systems including Niagara Tridium and JACE
- Managing maintenance activities through CMMS and supporting reporting to the Project Manager
- Conducting critical equipment condition assessments and ensuring safety and compliance
- Supporting operations across three federal buildings, including facilities connected by an underground tunnel
Salary: $48.00 - $54.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
Benefits: This full-time, permanent, direct-hire position offers great benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, pet insurance, a union pension plan, paid time off with vacation and sick leave accrual, bi-weekly pay, call-in pay, and an additional $6.00 per hour Health & Welfare benefit (up to 40 hours).
