Join one of Illinois’ top-growing construction firms as a Safety Director based in Chicago, IL! This exciting opportunity is with a family-owned, minority-certified contractor specializing in commercial, multi-family, and private sector projects across the Chicagoland area. Known for their high retention, repeat clientele, and commitment to safety and community development, this firm is seeking a strategic leader to elevate and manage their company-wide safety program.
Qualifications and responsibilities for this Construction Safety Director position include:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in commercial construction safety, ideally in a union setting
- OSHA 500 certification strongly preferred; CSP or CHST is a plus
- Experience using Procore and ISNetworld for safety tracking and reporting
- Ability to lead and continuously improve safety programs and policies
- Conduct field inspections across 5–6 job sites daily, mostly in Chicago
- Investigate incidents, manage claim processes, and interface with insurance and legal stakeholders
- Collaborate with union safety representatives and internal leadership to ensure full compliance
- Must be self-directed, field-driven, and able to develop and implement procedures proactively
Salary: $120,000 - $160,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
Benefits: This full-time, permanent, direct-hire position offers great benefits including health insurance through BlueCross BlueShield PPO/HMO with 60% employer contribution, 50% for dental/vision for employees and dependents, a 401k with up to 5% match, Short/Long Term Disability Insurance, Life Insurance, 15 PTO days (with 5 additional after 5 years), and 10 paid holidays.
