Qualifications and responsibilities for this Construction Observer position include:
- 2-4 years of experience in construction observation, preferably on IDOT projects
- Ability to read and interpret contract documents and construction plans
- Current IDOT documentation training or ability to obtain within six months
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites
- Strong PC skills, including web-based software and Microsoft Office
- BS in Civil Engineering is a plus
- Providing on-site observation and documentation to ensure contractor compliance
- Preparing and maintaining project records, reports, and material approvals
- Verifying plan quantities and calculations with bid plans
- Notifying the Contractor, Project Manager, or Resident Engineer of non-conforming work when necessary
Salary: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
Benefits: This full-time, permanent, direct-hire position offers great benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with match, life insurance, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and a health savings account. Work schedule is Monday through Friday with overtime opportunities.
