Qualifications and responsibilities for this Automation and Controls Engineer position include:
- B.S. in Electrical or Automation Engineering with 7+ years of experience in automation and Siemens PLC programming.
- Proficiency in Siemens TIA Portal, Step 7, WinCC, and communication protocols (PROFINET, PROFIBUS, MODBUS, OPC UA).
- Strong knowledge of power electronics, motor drives, energy storage, grid integration, and process control (PID, filtering, Kalman filter, system modeling).
- Preferred: Experience with microgrid automation, renewable integration, PMS/DCS systems, Siemens certifications, Python/database skills, and process regulation.
- Develop, test, and troubleshoot Siemens-based automation systems (TIA Portal, Step 7, WinCC) for power conversion applications.
- Create control narratives, IO lists, FMEA analyses, time-sequence charts, and block diagrams to define system behavior and support implementation.
- Configure WinCC HMIs following High Performance HMI principles and integrate systems using various protocols (Profinet, Modbus, OPC UA, etc.).
- Interface with power components (inverters, transformers, switchgear), lead FAT testing, and support commissioning with occasional site visits.
Salary: $110,000 - $130,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
